My First HD Brows Treatment
I’d been debating whether or not to get HD brows for a couple of months now and I finally decided to give it a go. After having my eyebrows tinted and waxed for a long time, I realised that I could potentially get better results by having a more bespoke treatment.
What are HD Brows?
HD Brows are completely personalised to what you’re after, whether that’s a different shape, size, colour or length. It includes tinting, waxing, threading and plucking to help you get the shape that you desire. If you’re particularly concerned about having less hair than you’d like, the technician talks you through a regrowth programme that aims to help you get the eyebrows you’d like and advises how long it might take. My technician told me that it can take anywhere between 2 and 20 treatments to get your eyebrows where you’d like them to be, so it can be a process where you need patience.
What happens at the appointment?
Charlotte at Lash Hut also offers HD Brows, so it made sense for me to have her create the brows of my dreams for me considering I already see her for my eyelash extensions. At the appointment Charlotte advised where she thought I needed regrowth - for me, this is the wider part of the eyebrow nearer the centre of my face where I seem to have little shape. Charlotte also talked through colour and shape and showed me a couple of pictures to make sure she had a good idea of what I was after.
Below you can see the before and after picture of my brows - please note that in the second picture Charlotte did apply some make-up in order to show me what my brows COULD look like with more treatment. However, I would definitely say that my eyebrows are looking more shaped and a nicer colour. For me, I didn’t want anything too glamorous or drastic, my aim to just have fuller brows by the time I have been through more treatments. I’ve always had a tint and shape because it means I don’t have to apply make-up to my eyebrows every morning (which saves so much time!), so I’m hoping that this will eventually make my eyebrows look so much nicer.
The whole process takes 45 minutes to 1 hour, so obviously that’s longer than your average tint and shape. At the moment, I think it costs a little bit more than my tint and wax but I think the long-term effects are more beneficial, so it’s worth it. HD Brows cost me £30. Charlotte advised that they need to be maintained every 4 to 6 weeks.
Does it hurt?
For me personally, it didn’t hurt at all. The worst part about it (for most people) is obviously the hair removal. However… I’m used to having my eyebrows waxed so for me, it just tickled rather than caused me pain. I’ve never had threading done before so that was new to me, but Charlotte used this on my tiny hairs above my eyebrows so again, it just tickled really.
If you haven’t had hair removal on your eyebrows before then the waxing can feel a little weird at first. When waxed under the eyebrow, it can cause a slight ‘stretching’ sensation but the feeling goes away quite quickly. The skin around your eyebrows can go a little red afterwards due to the hair removal.
The whole process wasn’t particularly painful or even uncomfortable. The most painful part for me was when Charlotte had just waxed a part of my eyebrow and then looked shocked due to what we were talking about… however, for all I knew she had just accidentally waxed my eyebrow off! Lucky for me, she didn’t…
What does it look like without the excess make-up?
Without the make-up obviously it doesn’t look as full because I’ve only had one treatment. However, I’m quite pleased that they do have a little more shape and I’m definitely excited to see what happens over the next few treatments. I can see some of the hair growing already (which is what I want!), so it’ll be great to see the results once my eyebrows are looking fuller.
Below you can see a picture of me on a regular day - I still don’t wear excess make-up on my eyebrows but they are noticeable enough that I don’t need to top them up with anything else.
So, do I think HD Brows are worth it? It’s hard to believe in it unless you’ve seen the benefits. I think as long as there continues to be progress throughout the next few treatments I will 100% think it’s worth it! I’m pleased with the results after one treatment and now that I have seen what could be achieved, I’m excited to see what’s next!
I’ll write another post after the next couple of treatments to update the results.
